Danialle Karmanos’ Work It Out taught yoga to the youth at The Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History this summer as part of their youth programming. The museum offered five weeks of camp to the community this summer. A new group of campers arrived each week and DKWIO greeted them with a lively session of yoga movement and tips for healthy eating. With the themes of Energy and Strength they learned the basis for a yoga flow along with nutrition suggestions to create long-lasting energy and what foods help build strong bones and teeth. Each camper took home a guide with yoga illustrations, breathing techniques and recipes.
“We are so very delighted to have had the Work It Out program with us each Monday during the camp. We are pleased that youth were exposed to yoga. It is a practice that they will take with them throughout their lives,” said LaNesha DeBardelaben, VP of Assessment & Community Engagement at The Wright Museum. www.thewright.org
