Kristen Sneideraitis is the Program Coordinator at Kids Work it Out, a Center for Health and Community Impact program at Wayne State University. With over five years of managerial and coaching experience, and a yoga background in adolescent mental health, trauma healing methods and body-based approaches of yoga therapy, Kristen has a passion for educating children in yoga, mindfulness, and lifelong healthy habits from a culturally competent lens. Since joining KWIO in 2016, Kristen has committed herself to creating a culture that promotes health and wellness in students, educators, staff, parents, and the greater community. She believes that as educators and practitioners, we cannot change the circumstances or environments that our students live in, but that with her experience, she is equipped to teach them tangible tools to cope in healthy and effective ways. Kristen is purposefully driven to guide today’s youth towards becoming impactful members of the community, and that the best place to begin is in the non-competitive and safe environment yoga provides. Since joining with KWIO in 2016, Kristen has led the program in 17 Detroit Elementary Schools, and has graduated over 500 students.
Kristen is a registered Yoga Alliance E-RYT® 200 and is certified in LifePower® Vinyasa, Somatic Experiencing, Trauma-informed Yoga Therapy, and Youth Mental Health First Aid (Michigan Dept of Health). She currently teaches the Kids Work It Out school-based yoga curriculum in DPSCD Elementary schools, and ‘Yoga in the Park’ at the Wayne State Farmers Market.
